Fire Hjørner Farm is a family-run Danish Warmblood breeding farm. We are nestled at the base of the beautiful La Plata Mountains outside of Durango, Colorado. We have imported top mares from Denmark and bred them with imported semen from Elite Danish Warmblood Stallions. Our horses offer the finest in dressage and showjumping pedigrees. In our horses you will find such legendary names as: Rosenkavalier, Sandro Hit, Contender, Ibikus, Weltmeyer, Matcho, Pik Koenig, Absatz, Cavalier, Furioso II, Ramiro, Alme, Grande and May Sherif.
Our youngsters are carefully handled from birth and are given the finest veterinary and farrier care. They are exposed to everything from children to backhoes from dogs to llamas. During the warm summer months they live in small herds in 5-15 acre fields and enjoy the fresh mountain air at 8000 feet above sea level. When the winter weather arrives, the horses are out during the day to romp in the sunshine and play in the snow. At night they are kept in an architect designed barn with all the conveniences a horse could want. Our stalls are large, bay fronted stalls specifically built and installed for Fire Hjørner Farm by Karl Heinz Gehrt in Denmark. We have a two inch, poured in place, rubber floor from Equiturf. This provides a comfortable cushion for sleeping as well as for growing legs. In addition we provide on demand, heated waterers for each stall.
At an early age our horses are taught to lead, stand, cross-tie and just about anything else we can think to do with them. Late in their third year they are put undersaddle. They are taught dressage basics and jumping as well as taken out on trails and even the occasional Elk Hunt!!!! At that point they are ready to move on to their permanent home where they will compete in dressage and/or showjumping. Our horses are given every possible training so that when they join your herd they are a welcome addition.
